Italy - Venice

Venice was our last stop in Italy.. The weather was beautiful.. It was cool arriving on train.. they have dug out enough land for the train to make it all the way to the main island. I'm running out of blogging time.. so I'm going to squeeze many pics in this post.

Here's the view from our hostel.. The train station was right across the canal, but despite this it took us almost an hour to find our hostel.

These are the boat buses that ferry most people around the major canals and to the surrounding islands and mainland. Its pretty easy to figure out which bus to take.. and if ure a "dumb tourist" its easy to ride for free.. ;)

Compare the next two pictures.. one is a real picture.. the other is a painting done in the 1700's that I saw in the Louvre.

This boat was used to pound in the wooden poles along the canal.

We went island hopping at night.. Venice is pretty quiet at night.. there isnt much nightlife.

This guy was squid hunting.. It was quite interesting.. Bobo and I watched him and a lady walking up and down the canal at night. The lady had a stick with a wire.. and the guy followed behind with a net. It turned out the the woman had a female squid dangling on the wire.. Apparently the female squid gives out distress signals and attracts male squids.. and as soon as the male squid arrives the guy scoops it out with his net. We watched them catch one.. it was fascinating.

Bobo wanted to take an artsy picture with this bench.. dont ask why. I kept thinking.. "man i dont want another fine!" hehe.

I think your most artsy picture was the one with the hallway (lined with pillars)..you can see Bobo standing with his back but he looks like a ghost - almost transparent! Pretty cool! As for that squid catching couple, they are wiping out every ounce of 'squidanity' from the squid kingdom. How many male squids, do you think, will come rescue a poor female squid in distress now? Anyways, I know you are flying tomorrow..so have a safe trip and study hard!

Sonu

Thanks Sonu :)

I arrived here safely.. everything is cool. It just keeps raining every other minute.. hehe. There was actually another squid couple further down the island.. I was afraid the guy was going to toss Bobo in the water b/c he was asking so many questions..hehe. You can imagine the excitement on nature nuts face :) Take care and good luck with that bowling size 12 bowling ball!!
